Locksmith chatbot and booking system

I coded Anytime Locksmith's website chatbot in 2019 to answer questions with the owner's replies and guide visitors toward booking service through a booking cart. In 2024, I expanded it with AI-assisted answers about the locksmith services the business offered.

A custom website chatbot built around the owner's answers

A locksmith website has two jobs: help someone understand the service and make the next step easy. For Anytime Locksmith, I built a chatbot that used replies supplied by the business owner rather than leaving visitors with only a page to read and a generic contact form.

The owner's service knowledge was the starting point. I coded the website chatbot to answer questions using those replies, then encourage the visitor to book service through a booking cart. The conversation had a purpose beyond keeping someone chatting.

This was the original 2019 build. I am not describing it as today's generative AI. The important work was connecting owner-provided answers, a website conversation, and a clear service-booking path.

What the original build connected

  • The business's answers: replies based on what the owner said about the services offered.
  • The visitor's question: a conversational way to get information on the website.
  • A booking next step: direction toward a cart where the visitor could proceed with service booking.

More AI-assisted answers, still focused on the locksmith's services

In 2024, I converted the chatbot to use more AI outputs. The goal was to give visitors more useful answers across the locksmith services Anytime Locksmith offered, while keeping the path toward booking service.

A customer may ask a question differently from the way a business writes its service page. The upgrade was about expanding the answer capability around those questions, not adding an unrelated AI conversation to the website.

The distinction matters: the 2019 version used owner-provided replies; the 2024 upgrade added AI-assisted output. It built on the same practical idea: answer the service question, then help the customer take the next step.

03 / Workflow overview

From a locksmith question to a booking next step

The project connected answers to action. This is a workflow overview, not a recreation of the original chat interface.

  1. Ask a service question

The visitor uses the website chat to ask about locksmith services.

  2. Get a business-focused answer

Owner-provided replies were the foundation; AI-assisted outputs expanded the answers in 2024.

  3. Move toward booking

The conversation directs the visitor toward booking service through the booking cart.

A chat reply is not the same as a confirmed appointment. For a similar system, the booking and confirmation rules must match how the business actually operates.

Build the answers and the booking path together

A chatbot and a booking cart solve different parts of the same problem. The chat helps someone understand the service. The booking path gives them somewhere useful to go after the answer.

That is the approach behind this project and the chatbot and AI booking systems I build: begin with the owner's knowledge, define what the system can answer, and make the next action clear. A more capable AI answer is useful only when it remains connected to the business.

For a new locksmith chatbot, we would review the service list, approved answers, existing website, booking tools, and the situations that need a person. We would also decide how those answers stay current when the business changes.

About this account: this page records my work for Anytime Locksmith: the 2019 chatbot build and the 2024 AI upgrade. It does not claim a measured increase in leads or bookings, and it is not a live demo of the original system.

About this locksmith chatbot project

When did Dean Schlenker build the Anytime Locksmith chatbot?

I coded and built the original website chatbot in 2019. It used the owner's replies to answer questions and encouraged visitors to book service through a booking cart.

What changed in the 2024 AI upgrade?

I expanded the chatbot with more AI-assisted outputs to help answer questions about the locksmith services the business offered. The focus remained useful service answers and a path toward booking.

Was the original 2019 chatbot generative AI?

The original build described here used owner-provided replies. The AI-output expansion came in 2024; those are separate stages of the project.

Can a locksmith chatbot replace the booking system?

A conversation can guide someone toward booking, but it does not by itself confirm service, availability, or an appointment. The booking system and the owner's operating rules determine what happens next.

Can Dean build a similar chatbot for another service business?

Yes. Start by sharing the current website, the services offered, how customers book, and the questions the owner answers most often. Dean can review the scope before recommending a custom chatbot, booking workflow, or AI upgrade.
